Assembly Man Jay Obernolte

Governor Newsom recently announced six factors that will serve as a framework before California’s economy will be reopened. Here are the six elements:

-Expand testing
-Protect high risk groups, including seniors and those with underlying health conditions
-Ensure hospitals have enough beds and supplies to care for patients
-Ability to develop treatments to meet demand
-Ability of schools and businesses to support physical distancing
-Ability to decide when to reinstitute stay-at-home orders if needed

The Governor indicated that there is not a precise timeline for modifying the stay-at-home order, but that these six factors will help determine how to move forward. However, he signaled there would need to be a decline in hospital and ICU admissions for two weeks for modifications to begin.

He also noted that things would look different in California when the stay-at-home order is lifted. For example, restaurants will have fewer tables and classrooms will be reconfigured.

A big step towards reopening our state will be for Californians to continue social distancing measures; which are greatly working to help flatten our curve of hospitalizations.

Things are progressing slowly, but this is good news for Californians.
