Bringing Your Own Kayak or Paddleboard? Read This First!
If you are planning to bring your own vessel to Big Bear, please be aware of our strict Quagga Mussel Inspection protocols.
To protect our lake’s ecosystem, the Big Bear Municipal Water District requires that all privately owned watercraft be inspected before they can be launched.
- The Inspection Rule: Your vessel must be clean, drained, and dry. If your vessel arrives at a launch ramp and has not been properly inspected or does not meet the cleanliness standards, you will be asked to leave the launch area.
- What to do: Please ensure you visit an authorized inspection station before heading to the water. Getting your inspection done in advance saves you a trip and ensures your day on the lake starts smoothly!
For the most up-to-date information on inspection locations and hours, please visit the Big Bear Municipal Water District website.
