5th Annual Big Bear "Polar Plunge" at Swim Beach benefiting the Special Olympics of Southern California. Activities start at 10 am with the plunge at noon. $50 entry fee to raise funds for Special Olympics Inland Empire.

Participants receive a full-day ticket to Bear Mountain plus other great prizes while raising money for the USARC (United States Adaptive Recreation Center). The event supports the adaptive ski school at Bear Mountain Resort, the first full time program in Southern California. www.usarc.org

Family fun with a 5k or 1k walk on the Alpine Pedal Path. Enjoy entertainment, food, face painters and giveaways. The benefit starts at 9 am. The start/finish line will be at North Shore Elementary School. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with Opening Ceremonies at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m Official Start. The 1k and 5k routes are 100% accessible and offer snacks and water at stationary rest stops. Individuals and teams can walk, roll or stroll along the shores of Big Bear Lake.

The Village Business Association will host its annual Summer Wine Walk from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm in The Village shopping district. The merchant organized event will showcase fine wines from around the world and the Village’s unique businesses, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to Big Bear Valley Education Trust, Christmas in the Village and other events for the community.

Beginning at the Meadows Edge Picnic area,the Holcomb Valley Trail Run offers three separate distances: a 33-mile race, a 15-mile race, and a 7-mile race. The event is a fund raiser for the local volunteer search and rescue organization. Search & Rescue bring out over 20 volunteers to assist in the operation of the event, staffing aid stations, marking course, providing communication, safety, and of course, if needed, first aid. The Big Bear Triathlon will challenge your athletic skills at 7,000'. Two distances are offered: Sprint and Olympic. Beginning at Pine Knot Landing, the Olympic Triathlon will start at 7:30 AM and Sprint Triathlon at 8:00 AM. Registration pickup and athlete check-in will begin on Friday June 24th at 4PM.

July 1-4th Enjoy art, live music and food at the annual event held in The Village. Founded in 1988, The Arts Council of Big Bear Valley is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of residents and visitors with visual art and music.

One of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Southern California takes place over Pine Knot Landing and Big Bear Lake. The show starts on Saturday, July 4th between 8:45-9:15 pm. and can be seen from multiple points around the area. Bring a blanket and a jacket for the cool evening.

High altitude brings a different set of challenges to SUP, kayak and canoe paddlers. The Big Bear PaddleFest is held at The Pines Lakefront (restaurant) on Big Bear Lake, hosted by North Shore Trading Company. Spectators and participants can enjoy a day of fun and $500 in prize money. Register for 5K Recreational Race, 10K Elite Race, 20K Around the Lake Challenge, Sprints and Relay Races.

21st Annual Run for the Grizzlies fundraiser presented by the Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. All proceeds to benefit the Grizzly Bears at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo at Moonridge. Open to the public and all bikes are welcome! Poker Ride – Prizes – Vendors – BBQ and Live Music. Ride is from 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at Chad's Place.

The Big Bear Valley Race Association presents The Big Bear Gran Fondo Mountain Bike ride offering five different routes to fit all levels of riders. From the tame 20k Skyview which takes you up the Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair to the 100k Terrible 10,000 that features a grueling ride down to the Santa Ana River Trail and back up Radford Road.

Challenge yourself in the high country of Southern California's San Bernardino Mountains. Riders of all levels are invited to ride over high mountain passes like Onyx Summit (elevation of 8,443 feet), and around Big Bear and Baldwin Lakes. Tour de Big Bear offers rides of 25, 50, 70 and 100 miles.

Friday August 12th through Sunday August 14th Big Bear Lake hosts a car show with 500+ cars - roadsters, classics, antiques and hot rods, lining the streets of Big Bear Village. Friday is registration day from 9-5 pm for participants at the Bartlett Parking Lot, Saturday is the day to view the cars on display from 9-4 pm and the Fun Run drive around the Lake takes place at 4pm at the end of day on Saturday, and the awards ceremonies are on Sunday starting at 9:00 am.

Tour the Zoo and enjoy delicious scoops of ice cream at the same time. There are five ice cream stations throughout the zoo, all with a different flavor of ice cream. To participate in the Ice Cream Safari is only $5.00 for five scoops of ice cream. The cost is regular zoo admission (Zoo admission is free with a Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo membership) + the $5.00 to participate in the Ice Cream Safari.

Experience the Big Bear Alpine Zoo’s nocturnal animals every Saturday in October. As soon as the sun sets and the stars begin to shine the nocturnal animals activate, and their natural instincts take over. Gates open 6:30 PM and close at 7:00 PM to start the tour. Bring your flashlight and wear warm clothes.

Enjoy the beautiful mountain air, sunshine and fall weather with lake views and mountain vistas! The courses for each distance are out and back and relatively flat with only 444 feet of elevation gain. The full course stretches across the Stanfield Cut-off and goes toward the dam with the turn around just west of Grout Bay.

The holidays get underway Thanksgiving weekend! Enjoy family entertainment with music and holiday festivities when Big Bear Lake lights the big tree in The Village and welcomes Santa to town. The free event starts at 5 pm.

After a great day on the slopes on New Years Eve guests will be treated to a torchlight parade (7:00 p.m. start time), which will serpentine down Miracle Mile run at Snow Summit. A spectacular sight to see as 100 skiers and snowboarders carry torches down Miracle Mile to weave a mysterious path of light to ring in the New Year.
